So tell me, when was the last time I blogged again?
I bet nobody ever reads this place anymore. I left it alone since the holidays ended because I simply had nothing to blog about. There were too many assignments to be done within such a short period of time and oh ma gaaaaaawd I honestly don't know how I survived those few weeks. Thanks to my friends, I'm sure.
The real reason behind the lack of updates was, well because I was too lazy to upload pictures for my posts. HAHA anyway I felt that it was rly sucky since I didn't take good pics with good resolutions. Would anyone really like seeing grainy pics? I know my vpdp lecturer would fail me if he saw any of my pics... Then again this is my personal space.
I've been thinking about what I had to offer in this little space that I had.. for you guys to read. Honestly I think the only thing I can talk about is my life and what I do everyday HAHA but who the heck wants to know about "a day in the life of _____" right? So I guess I'll be taking more pics of food from now because the usuals and I will be going for our food hunting marathon these few weeks!!! I rly hope I'll have enough money to sustain this.
Time spent with them is always time well spent. These fellas just get crazier and crazier each day, and as their true colours start to show, I'm finding them even more amazing as individuals. Us together is like the perfect blend of flavours in an ice blended takeaway cup.

If you're a close friend of mine, you would probably know that I'm a GREAT fan of food.. and that definitely includes desserts!
So recently I was introduced to this shop called Black Ball. Not sure if many of you have heard of it, but I wasn't one who would venture out for desserts in the past. The usuals decided to visit this place one very random day since we had nothing to do..
LO AND BEHOLD DAT SHIT IS AMAZEBALLS
Although the pics may not look very appetising to you rn, I assure you, the actual dessert would prove you otherwise. It's so good!!!!!! If you're a fan of sesame and green tea, this is definitely for you. Not forgetting pearls and grass jelly! Just imagine, being able to combine all your favourite flavours into one bowl.. omg madness.
So basically what you do is, you first start out with a bowl of grass jelly, and then decide what temperature you want it in. Then you choose your add-ons!! It's as simple as that, you can choose extra grass jelly, mixed baby balls, aiyu jelly, pudding, so on and so forth! I'm almost about to salivate while typing this HAHA I hope I can go back there soon.
We visited this place so many times within the past 7 weeks that I've completely lost count!

OH YES I must say, this pretty much sums up my life during school terms. Rachel and I have to travel from Dover back to the east every single day and fight wars against the working crowd aaaaaaand the amazing aunties. And because we gave up on snatching seats.. We decided to sit on the floor in the cabin connectors instead. What a genius idea, we no longer have to fight with anyone!
Except that we get disapproving stares from pretty much everyone. Who cares tho??

Main Dish:
So how does one actually express his/her individual style? Or rather, how does one define his or her own style? It's so hard to rock a certain nowadays especially with the current witch of the world, social media. Everyone criticises you regardless of what you do, and even call you a copycat!
If you start taking pictures with nice hippy effects, people start calling you "try-hard" or what Singaporeans love to say - "Step Tumblr".
Honestly what the heck is "Step Tumblr"? As far as I know, Tumblr was meant to be a platform which promoted freedom of expression, aka allowing each and every individual in the world to upload whatever he/she liked. Just because your sense of style is very similar to the popular things you see on a website, it doesn't mean you are copying them. Have you ever realised that these "popular" people on Tumblr are also regular people like you and I?
I don't recall those tumblr famous people being BORN famous, they all started out somewhere.
It really amazes me how people waste so much time coming up with ways to make people feel bad about themselves.
Being in an overly "kiasu/kiasi" country, it is very evident here that you would get judged for every single thing you do. I'm not talking about major decisions, I'm talking about even the minor things, like how you take a shit and how you brush you teeth. You will get judged for how you wear your hair on a certain day, how you match your shoes with your bags, and lastly how you speak.
It doesn't matter whether you're a genuinely good individual or not, because people don't give a shit about what's within. The 21st century is all about how people look and what they do.
Once people start taking slightly provocative pictures of themselves, comments such as "step tumblr", "slutty", "whore", "try hard", "act cool", "fake" start to come up, and it completely diminishes all existing self-esteem and confidence. Like, WHY ARE PEOPLE SO MEAN OVER HERE IS IT ANY OF YOUR GOD DAMN BUSINESS
It's not just pictures, when people here start taking funny videos or vlogs, they get flamed online for trying to emulate people they see overseas, or being "unoriginal". If coming up with something original was such an easy thing to do, there'd be no such thing as originality in the first place. As ironic as it sounds..
I remember being one of those judgemental pricks too. Because of how narrow-minded people are nowadays.. I forgot how it was like to just accept people the way they were and appreciate the way they were made. Every single time I saw someone doing something "out of the norm", I would raise my eyebrows in disagreement. After awhile I realised it was soooooo stupid
Honestly if someone dared to do something out of the norm, it means they gladly accepted and approved of it, according to their own morals and values. Nobody lives to please you
I'm not saying this because I'm the one going through it.. Perhaps things like this are said behind my back too. But I'm seeing this happen to so many of friends that it's starting to confuse and annoy me a little bit.
I have friends trying to take pictures at slightly remote places for a "cooler" feel, friends taking controversial pics such as kissing others of the same gender, etc etc and they're constantly being shamed for being more daring.
Give them a break.
If you're one of those people constantly checking up on people on Instagram who are perhaps famous or have a great sense of style in which you admire, don't be afraid to take inspiration from what you see and incorporate it into your own individual style. Do not be affected by what people say. I've been so mindful of what people had to say of me at a certain point of time that I completely lost myself along the way.
"The more you listen to people who don't matter, the more you turn into someone you never wanted to be"
Go out there, flaunt whatever you have. Channel out the hate and develop some love for yourself. You always have to start out somewhere, and it has to be from within. The more you ignore what haters have to say, they'll eventually go away.
I don't know how this has turned into a motivational blog post but I guess my mind had unconsciously intended to motivate you all. Hope I didn't come across as a naggy woman........
